Troops Dismantle Illegal Refining Site, Recover 555 Litres of Suspected Diesel in Rivers

Troops of the Joint Task Force South-South under Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) have dismantled an illegal refining site and recovered about 555 litres of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) during an anti-illegal bunkering operation in Rivers State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted between 12:35 p.m. and 6:18 p.m. on July 15 by troops of the 103 Battalion in Akarki Forest and Kala Community in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
During the operation, troops discovered an illegal refining site containing a half drum of suspected illegally refined AGO estimated at about 555 litres, along with two drum ovens, one reservoir, a 120-metre hose, one coolant, three iron buckets, and three rubber buckets.
