17 Brigade Crushes Terrorist Enclaves, Rescues 290 Victims, Recovers Over 2,200 Rustled Livestock in Katsina
The Commander of 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General MI Ibrahim, has disclosed that troops of the Brigade recorded significant operational successes under Operation FASAN YAMMA, neutralising 79 terrorists and rescuing 290 kidnapped victims over the last six months.

Speaking during a media briefing on the Brigade’s operational activities, Brig Gen Ibrahim said the sustained offensive against criminal elements also led to the arrest of 18 suspected terrorist collaborators and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition and other operational equipment.
According to him, troops recovered 23 AK-47 rifles, four PKT machine guns, large quantities of ammunition, over 2,200 rustled livestock, and seized 74 motorcycles used by terrorists to carry out attacks and evade security forces.

The Brigade Commander noted that the establishment of new Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) at strategic locations has significantly enhanced troop mobility, intelligence gathering and operational dominance across the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.
Brig Gen Ibrahim identified the launch of Operation FOREST SANITY IV as one of the Brigade’s most impactful operational milestones, describing it as a flagship offensive designed to dismantle terrorist strongholds and deny criminal elements freedom of action.
He explained that since the commencement of the operation, troops have maintained relentless pressure on terrorist enclaves, resulting in the destruction of numerous camps, the neutralisation of several terrorists, recovery of weapons and logistics, and the rescue of kidnapped victims.
The Brigade Commander added that the sustained military operations have restored confidence among local communities, particularly farmers, enabling them to return to their farmlands and resume legitimate socio-economic activities.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements, while urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to consolidate the gains recorded under Operation FASAN YAMMA.
