Troops Safely Detonate Two Improvised Explosive Devices in Borno, Recover Another Along Monguno Axis

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have safely detonated two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by terrorists along the Dambua–Bulabulin–Kumala road in Borno State, preventing what security sources described as a planned attack on troops and civilian commuters.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the explosives were discovered at about 2:30 p.m. on July 22 during routine patrols by troops operating along the strategic corridor.
The troops immediately secured the area and carried out a controlled detonation of the two primed IEDs, successfully neutralising the threat without casualties.

According to the sources, the devices were deliberately planted by terrorists to target security forces and unsuspecting motorists using the route.
In a related development, troops conducting mine and route-clearing operations also encountered a booby-trap IED along the Cross Kauwa–Kekeno–Monguno road.
Military explosive ordnance specialists responded to the scene and initiated appropriate counter-IED procedures to ensure the safety of troops and road users.
Military sources said the discoveries highlight the continued reliance of terrorist groups on improvised explosive devices to impede military operations and inflict casualties on both security personnel and civilians.
The sources urged motorists and residents in conflict-prone areas to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects or activities to security agencies as troops continue route clearance and counter-IED operations across the North-East.
