Tinubu commends security forces for rescuing 15 abducted NYSC members, six other Nigerians in Kogi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the security forces for the successful rescue of 21 Nigerians abducted by kidnappers in Kogi State.
The victims comprised 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and six other civilians who were abducted last week by criminal elements.
President Tinubu, in a statement, said the victims were rescued on Monday afternoon from a kidnappers’ den in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
He said the successful Search and Rescue (SAR) operation was conducted by a combined team of the military, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and local vigilantes.
According to him, the rescued persons comprised eight males and 13 females.
He said the victims were currently receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.

The President disclosed that security forces were still pursuing the fleeing kidnappers, stressing that those responsible for the abduction would face the full weight of the law.
“Those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime,” he said.
Tinubu said his administration remained committed to ensuring that Nigerians could travel across the country without fear.
He also commended the combined SAR team for their courage and dedication, while appreciating the families and loved ones of the abductees for their patience and understanding throughout the ordeal.
“As I share in the relief and joy of the parents and loved ones of the rescued individuals, I want to once again assure parents and loved ones of our dedicated corps members that my administration remains committed to ensuring the safety of their lives and property, as well as those of other Nigerians,” the President said.
He further commended the men and women of the nation’s security and intelligence agencies for their service.
The rescue comes amid renewed security operations against kidnapping and other criminal activities across parts of the country.
