OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA: Troops Arrest Terrorist Kingpin, Ammunition Courier, Logistics Supplier in Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and two members of his syndicate, as well as an ammunition courier and a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in separate operations across Kaduna State.

The arrests, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, followed clearance operations and credible intelligence on the activities and movement of terrorist elements within the state.

Danja said troops of Sector 1, during an operation in the early hours of September 9, 2026, raided Dabar Dabo, a known terrorist hideout in Kubau Local Government Area, where they arrested the suspected kingpin and two other members of his syndicate.

He said the three suspects were currently in military custody undergoing further investigation.

In a separate operation the same day, troops acting on intelligence about the movement of terrorist ammunition intercepted a 50-year-old female courier in Igabi Local Government Area.

The suspect was found in possession of 300 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the woman had travelled from Zamfara State to Lafia, where she allegedly collected the ammunition for onward delivery to terrorists operating in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State.

The suspect and the recovered ammunition have been taken into military custody for further investigation.

Later on September 9, troops of Sector 1, working in collaboration with a community vigilante group, also apprehended a suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

A search of the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of four communication devices suspected to have been used by terrorists.

The suspect and recovered devices were equally taken into military custody for further investigation.

The Joint Task Force said the operations demonstrated the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantling terrorist networks, restricting their freedom of action and disrupting the movement of arms, ammunition and other logistics across its Joint Operations Area.

The task force commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
