Troops of Sector 3, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected informant linked to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.

The suspect was apprehended at about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at Fulatari community in Monguno LGA.

According to sources, the troops, acting on intelligence, apprehended the suspect over alleged involvement in providing information to ISWAP terrorists.

During the operation, the troops recovered one National Identity Card, a packet of paracetamol and other sundry items from the suspect.

The arrest forms part of ongoing intelligence-led operations by security forces and local civilian auxiliaries to identify and disrupt terrorist support networks in communities around Monguno and other areas of the North-East.
