COAS Charges Depot NA Osogbo on Training Excellence During Maiden Operational Visit
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to excellence in training and professionalism as the cornerstone of building a formidable force.
He made this known during his maiden operational visit to Depot Nigerian Army (NA) in Osogbo, Osun State, on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Addressing officers, instructors, and recruits, the COAS underscored the pivotal role of Depot NA as the cradle of soldiering in the Nigerian Army. He charged the training cadre to embrace his leadership vision by instilling discipline, dedication, and tactical competence in the recruits under their tutelage.

“Effective training is the bedrock of military professionalism. It is here that the future of the Nigerian Army is shaped. We must train with passion, with purpose, and with the clear objective of producing soldiers that Nigeria can depend on in peace and in conflict,” General Oluyede declared.
The Army Chief further called on the instructors to align their methods with global best practices, with a strong focus on capacity development, combat readiness, and moral rectitude, which he described as essential for the evolving security landscape in Nigeria.
During the visit, General Oluyede also undertook a comprehensive inspection of the Depot’s infrastructure and training facilities. The assessment, he noted, was critical in identifying gaps and enhancing the Army’s operational preparedness and response capacity.
The visit marks a significant step in the COAS’s ongoing tour of military formations nationwide, aimed at reinforcing command leadership, boosting troop morale, and strengthening the Army’s institutional capabilities.
The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, confirmed that the visit reflects the COAS’s proactive approach to building a more agile and professional Army capable of meeting the security needs of the nation.
