Troops Raid Illegal Arms Factory in Plateau, Arrest Suspect and Recover Weapons
Troops of the 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace have uncovered an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Plateau State, arresting a weapon fabricator and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition.
According to a statement issued on Thursday, September 18, 2025, by the Media Information Officer of the operation, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the raid was carried out on September 17 at Heipang District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area following credible intelligence.
The statement revealed that while troops arrested one suspect at the factory, other accomplices fled before security forces arrived.

A search of the facility led to the recovery of twelve assorted fabricated weapons, one locally made pistol, 19 rounds of PKT ammunition, twelve cartridges, ten rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, ten rounds of 9mm ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO), one round of QJC ammunition, a smoke grenade, two fragmental jackets, a Motorola handheld radio, a jack knife, and a bucket containing assorted medicines.
Major Zhakom confirmed that the suspect and recovered items are in custody for further investigation, while efforts are underway to track down fleeing members of the illegal syndicate.
He further urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information, noting that such collaboration is critical to eradicating illicit arms and ammunition and denying criminal elements the freedom to operate within the Joint Operations Area.
