Troops Crush Bandits’ Hideouts in Taraba, Recover Arms and Motorcycle

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have dislodged several bandits’ enclaves during a series of coordinated clearance operations under Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA.
The operations, conducted on 5 October 2025, targeted notorious hideouts across Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas following credible intelligence on bandits’ movements and the destruction of farmlands in the region.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the troops advanced on multiple fronts to flush out the criminals from their hideouts in Tarhembe, Tornyi, TY Farm, and Kando in Tati, Takum LGA, as well as parts of Ussa LGA.

During the offensive, troops of Team A engaged the bandits in a fierce firefight, forcing them to flee into the forest. A mop-up operation led to the recovery of four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, and one motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing assailants.
Simultaneously, Team B conducted clearance operations through Lissam, Kutukok, Konkan, Fank Utaih, Kijwu, Kutukwo, Kwesati, and Alaha, destroying multiple makeshift camps used by bandits. The army confirmed that the raids were successful and unopposed, effectively disrupting criminal activities in the area.
Commending the troops for their professionalism and resilience, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence to sustain the gains recorded so far.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Taraba and the North East region, noting that the operations have “further denied bandits freedom of action and reassured local communities of the Army’s determination to maintain peace and stability.”
