COAS Reaffirms Tougher Offensive Against Criminal Networks as Kogi Governor Visits Army Headquarters
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s resolve to intensify operations against criminal elements threatening peace and stability in Kogi State and other parts of the country.
He made the pledge on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, while hosting the Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Lieutenant General Shaibu assured that the Army will continue to deploy all necessary resources to confront emerging and existing security challenges. He stated that the Nigerian Army remains committed to sustaining a high operational tempo aimed at neutralising threats, protecting citizens, and restoring enduring stability nationwide.

The Army Chief also reaffirmed the institution’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with state governments, noting that such partnerships are crucial for enhancing security architecture and achieving lasting peace across the federation.
Governor Ododo, in his remarks, congratulated Lieutenant General Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff, describing the choice as a testament to his competence and leadership qualities. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting Shaibu with the responsibility of leading the Nigerian Army at a pivotal period in the nation’s fight against insecurity.
The Governor commended the Army’s unwavering contributions to national security and acknowledged the complex nature of the threats confronting the country. He pledged the full support of the Kogi State Government for ongoing and future military operations aimed at securing communities and suppressing criminal activities in the state.
A statement issued by Army Spokesperson, Lt Col Apollonia Anele, said the visit further reinforced the commitment of both the Nigerian Army and the Kogi State Government to deepening cooperation in the collective effort to secure the nation.
