Acting GOC 7 Division Visits 26 Task Force Brigade, Repositions Troops at Bita to Intensify Counter-Terrorism Operations
The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, has conducted an operational tour of the 26 Task Force Brigade Area of Responsibility (AOR), with a strategic redeployment of troops in Bita, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The visit, which took place between 8 and 9 August 2025, covered operational formations including the 114 and 199 Task Force Battalions positioned on the fringes of the Sambisa forest — a key theatre of counter-terrorism operations.

Addressing the troops, Brigadier General Unachukwu commended their resilience, courage, and selfless service in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity. He charged them to maintain dominance in their operational environment to secure peace and enable socio-economic activities, particularly agriculture, to flourish.
The Acting GOC assured the soldiers of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to providing the necessary combat enablers to support their mission, pledging that acts of bravery and professionalism would be duly rewarded, while cowardice would not be tolerated.
He urged the troops to sustain pressure on terrorist elements, deny them freedom of movement, and build on the confidence and trust of the local population.
In a morale-boosting gesture, the visit ended with Brigadier General Unachukwu leading a rigorous push-up exercise alongside the troops, reinforcing unity, discipline, and fighting spirit in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.
