U.S. AFRICOM Commander Commends Operation Hadin Kai, Reaffirms Support for Nigeria’s Counter-Terrorism Fight

Major General Claude Tudor, Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), has commended the operational successes of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, describing them as a testament to the commitment and resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism.

Maj. Gen. Tudor gave the commendation during a visit to the headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, Borno State, where he reaffirmed the enduring strategic partnership between the United States and Nigeria in tackling terrorism and violent extremism.

During the visit, the Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, briefed the U.S. military delegation on the ongoing counter-insurgency operations, highlighting recent operational gains, the prevailing security situation, and the force’s sustained efforts to restore peace and stability across the North-East.

Maj. Gen. Tudor praised the professionalism and achievements of the troops, noting that their efforts continue to contribute significantly to regional security. He reiterated the commitment of the United States to strengthening cooperation with Nigeria through sustained collaboration, capacity building, and the sharing of expertise in addressing evolving security threats.

The visit underscores the growing defence and security partnership between Nigeria and the United States, particularly in the area of counter-terrorism, as both countries continue to deepen cooperation aimed at defeating insurgency and enhancing stability in the Lake Chad Basin and the wider West African region.
