Army Intensifies Intelligence-Driven Operations as 17 Brigade Targets Terrorist Networks
The Commander of the 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General M.I. Ibrahim, has reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive military operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements across its Area of Responsibility, declaring that troops will not relent until lasting peace is restored.
Speaking on the Brigade’s ongoing counterterrorism operations, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim said troops would continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and denying terrorists freedom of action across Katsina State and the wider North-West region.
He said the Brigade would further strengthen collaboration with sister services and other security agencies to enhance operational effectiveness and improve coordinated responses to emerging security threats.

The Brigade Commander also pledged to expand Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiatives, noting that building public trust and supporting host communities remain integral to achieving sustainable security.
According to him, the Brigade’s operations are focused not only on protecting lives and property but also on creating a secure environment that supports socio-economic development and enables residents to pursue their livelihoods without fear.
“Our resolve remains unwavering until all criminal elements are decisively defeated,” Brig. Gen. Ibrahim said.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely intelligence, stressing that collective efforts remain critical to consolidating the gains recorded in the ongoing campaign against terrorism and banditry.
Brig. Gen. Ibrahim expressed confidence that with sustained operational pressure, enhanced inter-agency collaboration and stronger community partnership, the Brigade would continue to degrade criminal networks and contribute to restoring enduring peace and stability across Katsina State and the North-West.
