Troops Conduct Clearance Operations, Engage Communities to Prevent ISWAP Infiltration in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have conducted a successful clearance operation across several communities in Borno State as part of sustained efforts to deny ISWAP terrorists freedom of action and prevent infiltration attacks on military locations.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 12:30 p.m. on July 21 by troops of the 212 Battalion in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The troops, mounted on three gun trucks, two CJTF gun trucks and three motorcycles, advanced into communities around Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) Gajigana and Tungushe following intelligence reports indicating possible ISWAP activities in the area.

During the operation, the troops cordoned and thoroughly searched buildings within the operational area but found no incriminating items. They also interacted with residents to gather intelligence on the activities and movements of suspected terrorists.
The clearance patrol covered Shotorom, Degemram and Kongolo villages, where the troops conducted extensive searches without making contact with any terrorist elements.
At the conclusion of the operation, the commanding officer addressed community and youth leaders, urging them not to allow terrorists to hide within their communities or use the areas as staging grounds for attacks against security forces.
Military sources described the operation as successful and hitch-free, noting that no casualties were recorded and the troops maintained high morale throughout the mission.
The sources added that similar clearance operations and fighting patrols would be sustained across the general area to deny ISWAP terrorists freedom of movement and consolidate security gains in the North-East.
