The Nigerian Army’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) welfare flight has transported 330 personnel into and out of the Theatre of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in the North-East as part of efforts to enhance troop welfare and sustain operational effectiveness.

Security sources disclosed that the second welfare flight for October 2026 was conducted on October 15 using a chartered ValueJet aircraft.

Of the 330 personnel airlifted, 155 were transported into the operational theatre, while 175 were moved out.

The exercise was completed without any reported incident, according to the sources.

With the latest operation, the cumulative number of personnel transported into and out of the OPHK theatre under the welfare flight arrangement has risen to 36,191.

The initiative is part of the Nigerian Army’s broader welfare measures for troops deployed in the counter-insurgency campaign in the North-East, facilitating personnel movement and providing logistical support to sustain morale and combat readiness.

The welfare flight arrangement also provides a dedicated means of moving personnel into and out of the theatre, supporting troop rotation and the administrative demands associated with prolonged military deployments.

The continued implementation of the initiative underscores the importance of personnel welfare in sustaining military operations against insurgents and other armed groups in the region.
