Shaibu stated this on Thursday, October 29, 2026, during the commissioning of the newly constructed Nigerian Army Space Command Headquarters at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja.

The Army Chief said investments in accommodation, healthcare and modern infrastructure were central to his administration’s Soldier First mantra and the command philosophy’s pillar of Sound Administration.

He explained that these capabilities would strengthen intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), improve situational awareness and facilitate timely operational decisions, while reducing troops’ exposure to danger on the battlefield.
The COAS urged personnel to ensure the proper maintenance of the newly commissioned facility, stressing that technological advancement must be complemented by effective training, discipline and accountability.
He reiterated the Nigerian Army’s resolve to build a professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient force through sustained investments in personnel welfare, infrastructure and modern military capabilities.
The commissioning of the headquarters underscores the Army’s drive to harness emerging technologies in support of intelligence gathering, operational planning and mission execution, while strengthening its capacity to respond to evolving security challenges.
