“Who Am I To Respond to Trump?- He Most Disgraceful Statement Ever from Nigerian Senate President

By any measure of leadership, the recent statement credited to Senate President Godswill Akpabio “Who am I to respond to Trump?” represents one of the weakest, most shameful moments in the history of Nigeria’s National Assembly. It exposes not only personal cowardice but also the tragic decay of an institution that was once supposed to stand as the defender of the Nigerian people.
How can the Senate President of Africa’s most populous nation, a sovereign state with millions of citizens under constant terrorist attacks, reduce himself to such submission before a foreign politician making reckless and damaging comments about our country? Akpabio’s statement reeks of inferiority, timidity, and total absence of patriotism. It shows that the current Senate is not only weak it is utterly compromised.

While our soldiers die daily on the battlefield, while terrorists continue to slaughter innocent Nigerians in Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Plateau and other states, the Senate under Akpabio has done nothing meaningful to strengthen the military through robust legislation or genuine oversight. If we are in a serious country, the Military should have been well funded and equipped beyond any other institutions. The Senate should have slashed their salaries or even task all Nigerians to contribute to support our military with everything they needed to end the crises. Instead, you only hear them ranting of insecurity on the floor of the house without any meaningful action. They are only obsessed with constituency projects money, budget padding, and self-enrichment deceiving Nigerians with empty rhetoric and hollow investigations that lead nowhere.
When the issue of Christian genocide in the North was raised, the Senate claimed it would investigate. Till today, not a single report, not a single action, not a single follow-up. Silence. Indifference. Betrayal. The Ministry of Information mumbled a few weak words, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did nothing, and the Senate simply folded its arms waiting for Miracle.
Akpabio’s words confirm what Nigerians have feared all along: the 10th Senate is a rubber stamp, the weakest and most submissive in the world. A Senate that bows before foreign powers while the country’s sovereignty is being undermined does not deserve the respect of the people. It deserves outrage.
If Akpabio “is not worthy” to respond to Trump, then he is certainly not worthy to speak for Nigeria and definitely not fit to lead the Senate.
