Troops of the Nigerian Army have restored calm following a violent clash between Fulani herders and residents of Karmo community, along the boundary between Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, which left two persons dead.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 11:50 a.m. on Nov. 5, 2026, when troops of 177 Guards Battalion deployed at Patrol Base Gadabuke, alongside personnel of 106 Battalion, responded to reports of a communal clash in the area.

Preliminary findings indicated that a woman identified as Miss Alheri was allegedly killed by suspected Fulani herders.

The killing reportedly triggered a reprisal attack by members of the Karmo community, during which a Fulani man was killed and his motorcycle set ablaze.

The situation subsequently became tense as both parties reportedly attempted to escalate the confrontation.

However, the prompt intervention of the troops prevented further violence and brought the situation under control.

Security personnel have continued to monitor the area to prevent renewed hostilities and further reprisals.
